Whether it is one problem corner or a full redesign, the process starts with a walk-through and a written plan.
Topsoil, mulch and decorative stone come from Kane County Landscape Materials in Elburn and Fox River Stone in South Elgin, both a short drive from the properties we work on, so material shows up when the crew does.

Bigger projects start as a 3D design built from photos, a plot survey and an elevation certificate — so you see the backyard before we build it, and change orders stay rare.

Site preparation, soil correction and sod or seed, so the new lawn takes and keeps taking.

We do a ton of drainage work: water moved away from foundations and low spots, planned from the elevation data up.

Beds cut clean, planted for the conditions, and mulched to hold moisture and keep weeds down.

Walk The Property
Photos, grade, low spots, sun and shade. We talk through what is not working and what you want the yard to do.

Design It In 3D
For larger projects the plan is built from your plot survey and elevation certificate, so drainage is designed in from the start. Usually one to two weeks.

Written Scope And Schedule
Scope, plant list and start window in writing, sequenced so plants go in at the right time of year.

Grade, Plant, Sod
Grading and drainage first, then beds, planting and lawn, all by the same crew.

Final Walk-Through
We walk it with you, hand over care instructions, and can keep it looking this way on a maintenance plan.

Landscape Questions
How does the design process work?
It starts with an on-site consultation and photos of your property. Back at the office we bring in a plot survey and an elevation certificate so drainage is designed in from the start, then build the layout in 3D. A typical design takes one to two weeks, and we review it with you on site before anything moves forward.
Can you fix standing water in my yard?
Drainage is one of the most common problems we solve. The fix depends on where the water comes from and where it can go — we will tell you the options and what each one costs after seeing it.
When is the best time to plant?
Spring and fall are the friendliest windows in northern Illinois, but site preparation, grading and hardscape can happen through most of the season. We will sequence the work so plants go in at the right time.
Where do your materials come from?
Locally. Mulch, topsoil, compost and decorative gravel come from Kane County Landscape Materials & Supply in Elburn, and stone, boulders, base gravel and sand from Fox River Stone, the limestone quarry in South Elgin. Both deliver to the Fox Valley daily, so we are not waiting on material to keep a job moving.
